He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Carstens and Margaret Carstens; his siblings, Delbert Carstens and Marie Carstens Dove; and his grandson Peter Carstens.
He is survived by: his wife Colleen Carstens; his children, Janis Ledum (Rod Huffman), Judy Logan (Jerry), Randy Carstens (Mary) and Kurt Carstens (Terri); and his sister-in-law Kathy Carstens. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
