John P Huff Obituary
John Paul Huff, 94, lived at Crista Shores in Silverdale, WA for 16 years. He is survived by wife, Mary Huff and daughters Janet Hopkins and Joanne Hopkins; grandchildren John Paul Huff, Jenny Pergola and Kait Searcy; and 3 great grandchildren. Deceased are children, Kim Huff Griffin, Clayton Huff and Susan Hopkins.
He was the youngest of 10 children born in the hills of Kentucky. He served in the Army Air Corps in the Philippines at the age of 16 during World War II. Later in his life he moved to Michigan, Texas, and Arizona before coming to Washington State.
His passions were fishing, cooking, gardening and woodworking. He was always creating something useful from his creative imagination and worked nonstop in Crista's workshop. He belonged to the Mason Lodge for over 72 years and was part of the local American Legion. John was active in a church wherever he lived.
Everyone enjoyed his playful nature and his ability to sing and dance to liven up a group. His joyful spirit was contagious. He and Mary met while square dancing and had a square dance at their wedding. John had a motor home where he and Mary were able to travel their first years of marriage before settling down in Sequim, Washington. One of John's favorite acts of service was cooking meals for large groups where no size was too big! He volunteered for 10 years, many days a week, driving retired military folks to American Lake for doctor's appointments.
John had a love for all animals. He adopted a cat from his daughter after years of babysitting her dog every Friday. His cat went everywhere he did; walks on the beach, car rides to the doctor or store, down the hall to friends apartments. Animals were drawn to his kind nature.
John was a kind, giving man and will be greatly missed by his family.
