He was predeceased by: his parents, Ruby Freeman and Hamilton "Chummy" Freeman; his brother Dwight; and his granddaughter Kamille Johnson. He is survived by: his children, James and Karla Johnson (JJ); his grandsons, Jerald and Samuel Johnson; his sister Carolyn Pipkins (Paul); and his partner's sons, Chad, Chuck, Scott and Curtis Patnode. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
