He was predeceased by: his son John Alan; and his parents, John Matthews and Maxine Matthews (Carter). He is survived by: his wife Nancy; his sons, Harry (Denise) of Olathe, Andy (Anne) of Decatur, Kenneth of Chicago and Jason (Lura) of Salida, Colorado; his grandchildren, Spencer, Kelsey and Justin; and his sister Donna McCoy.
