He was predeceased by: his parents, John Chew Lun Ching and Yuk Tong Ching (Au); his stepmother Shiu Chee Ching; and his sisters, Blanche K. Q. Hee (Clifford) and Cynthia K. H. Won (Willie).

He is survived by: his siblings, Constance Cheung and Anthony Ching (Dawn); his children, Jennifer Koop (Martin) and Jeffrey Morris; his grandchildren, Hannah Pintar (McCaffrey), Aaron Koop and Jordan Koop; his great grandchildren, Jackson Wells Pintar and Laurel Ruth Pintar; and his cousin Keala Cupp (Don).
