He was predeceased by: his parents, Ethlyn Virginia Hensley (Lawson) and Horace Hensley; his brother Gerald Horace Hensley (Jerry); his daughter Tara Hensley Almuti; and his grandson Steven Dwight Frost.

He is survived by: his brothers, Fabian, Jimmy Smith, Organist and Dion; his wife Lavonne; his brother Darrell Hensley (Louise) of Selah; and his son Johnny Steven Delzell (Linda High) of Ilwaco.
