She was predeceased by: her parents, Richard Leon Fairless and Vivian Maxine Fairless (Meade). She is survived by: her son Richard Howard Rae; her daughter-in-law Chanin Kelly-Rae; her grandsons, William Whitman and Wesley Robert; her brother-in-law Fred Rae (Virginia Rae) of Spanaway, WA; and her cousin Mike Meade. She is also survived by nephews, nieces, and loving family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Seattle Woodland Park Zoo in Dixie's memory, honoring her lifelong dedication to animal welfare and education.
