She was predeceased by: her parents, Francisco Yurrita and Madaline Yurrita. She is survived by: her children, Gabriel, Andrea and Javier Alegrett. She is also survived by four grandchildren.
The Superintendent of Arlington Public Schools publicly recognized her for her contributions to the Superintendent's Advisory Committee on the Elimination of the Achievement Gap.
