He was predeceased by: his parents, Norton Prather Black and Mary Elva Orchard Black; his brothers, Eric and Jeffrey; and his grandson Elijah.

He is survived by: his wife Melissa Lanza Black; his sons, Nathaniel, Anthony (Courtney) and Andrew (Lisa); his brother Dan (Kim); and his grandchildren, Joseph (May), Alexander, Corban, Madelaine and Harrison.
