He is survived by: his wife Kay Kurtzweg; his children, Steven Kurtzweg (Christy) and Melissa De Leeuw (Howard); his grandchildren, Pedro, Mari Correa and Elisabeth Heftel (Brannon); and his great grandchildren, Ari and Olive Heftel.
