He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Joanne Hillis and Warner Hillis; his children, Joshua Hillis, Andrea Eckart, Nichole Hillis and Tracy Hillis; his grandchildren, Magnolia, Rowen, Autumn and Stella; and his siblings, Stacey Hillis, Stephanie Smith, Todd Hillis and Dan Hillis.

In honor of his love for cats, in lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to ARRF Animal Rescue in Roslyn, Washington (arrfanimalrescue.org).
