He was predeceased by: his parents, James Caldwell and Edna Mae Caldwell (Hampton); his sister Joyce Martin; and his brother-in-law Lyle Martin. He is survived by: his wife Bernice Caldwell; his children, James Caldwell (Sheryl), Jeffrey Caldwell (Tami), Kevin Standerfer (Cindy) and Kimberly Lammers; and his sister Janet Preston. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
