He was predeceased by: his parents, John Dirks and Edna Dirks; his brother Gaylord; his sister-in-law Mary Dirks; and his grandson Jesse William Polensky.
He is survived by: his wife Sharon Lynne Barton; his siblings, Johnny Dirks (Debbie) and Twyla Cope (Bill); his children, Loren Dirks, Darrell Dirks (Heather) and Dawn Polensky (Bill); and his grandchildren, Chandra Martin, Jamie Evans, Nikki Dirks, Lexi Polensky and Jaydon Dirks.
