He is survived by: his wife Makia Oaks; his stepson Samuel Jurenka; his mother Lucy Oaks; and his siblings, Bryant Oaks (Priscilla), Michael Oaks, Richard Oaks (Pattie Pringle-Oaks) and Deborah Oaks (Phil Bennett). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

With his quiet ways, big heart and guitar in hand, he held space as long as he could, keeping a light on through the pandemic, even in sickness.
