Dave Darrell Dohse Obituary
Dave Dohse was born December 14, 1947 in L.A., CA to Claus and Maurine (Morgan) Dohse. He died at home on July 18, 2017, of Leukemia. He grew up along the west coast, settling back in CA. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1966 and served for 6 years. He was a VietNam Veteran. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion and the 40 & 8.
Dave was a Longshoreman, warehouse worker, Guard dog security facility, school bus driver, and long-haul trucker. He later went back to school and became a teacher. He majored in Special Ed., and adored teaching, considering it his calling.. In 1983 he moved to New Hampshire from California where he continued teaching for the Auburn, Pembroke, Candia, and Raymond school districts.
He got a job as a fire watchman at Warner Hill Fire Tower in Derry, NH, in 1986, and soon after, met the love of his life, Audrey Renaud. He worked two years with the fire tower, and attended UNH where he graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1988. He started work with the NH Dept. of Transportation District 5 as a laborer and truck driver.
He moved up to the DOT office in Boscawen where he worked as a dispatcher until his retirement in 1999. It was at this time that he and Audrey moved to Dixie, WA and started over. Dave obtained his WA teaching certification in Special Education, and was a substitute teacher in Walla Walla and surrounding areas. Dave was predeceased by his parents, and thirteen brothers including Robert, Eldon and Earl Dohse, and Rocky and George Newmiller. He is survived by his wife Audrey, sister Maurine (Dennis) Negron, his sons Kevin (Genevieve) Negron and Brett (Andrea) Starling, his step-daughter Hannah (Frank) Hebert, 10 grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, many nieces and nephews, and a special friend, Barb St. Louis.
Visiting hours will be on Monday July 24th from 4 PM to 6 PM at Mountain View-Colonial DeWitt, 1551 Dalles Military Road, Walla Walla, WA 99362. A funeral for family will be held at the funeral home on that day at 5:30 PM. After cremation, a public celebration of life will be held on Saturday August 5th at 11AM at the First Congregational Church, 73 South Palouse, Walla Walla.
