He was predeceased by: his brothers, John Cranos and David Cranos; his former wife Carol Conway; his nieces, Susan Cranos Shaw and Carol "Buzzy" Murray; and his nephew Alexander Milgrim.

He is survived by: his daughters, Letitia Conway-Cranos (Morgan Bond) of Olympia and Hallie Cranos (Andy Tilton) of Olympia; his grandchildren, Melina and Elliott Bond; his brother Jim Cranos (Ingrid Cranos) of Venice, Florida; his sisters-in-law, Mary Letitia Murray (Stewart Murray) of Forres, Scotland and Patricia Conway of Philadelphia; and his former wife Diane Chiddister of Yellow Springs, Ohio..
