He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Harry Townsend and Mary Townsend; his children, Pete Townsend (Dana), Stephen Townsend (Angela) and Mary Katherine Johnson (Grant); and his wife Anne Townsend. He was also cherished by six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Memorial donations may be made to Lions Club International.
