He was predeceased by : his parents, Frank Carney and Edith Carney; his sister Margaret Steele (Jack Steele); and his nieces and nephews, Garrett and Jaime.

He is survived by : his siblings, David Carney of Palm Springs, California, Ellen Saxby (late Donald Saxby) of Minnetonka and Eido Frances Carney of Olympia; his niece Deborah Steele (David McGimpsy) of Belfast; and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Jessica Molner, Nicholas Destabelle, Wyatt Destabelle, Julian Thomet and Esther Thomet.
