He was loved and cherished by many people including: his adoptive father William Kelsie (Kathryn Kliewer Jackson); his former spouse Jean Simpson of Fresno; his wife Lucy Healy of Coronado; his son Brian (Rosa); his grandson Aidan; his son Brent; his sister Barbara Altum of Torrey, UT; his birth mother Helga Andersen Eichel of Parker, SD; and his half-brothers, William Eichel of Parker, SD, Jim Eichel (Lori) of Chapel Hill, NC and Gary Eichel (Betsy) of Parker, SD.. He was also cherished by three nephews and nine nieces.
Tom will be remembered for his generous and kind nature and spirit, his selfless devotion to others and his dedicated contribution to, both, the Boy Scouts AND Girl Scouts of San Diego, as well as a Board Member of the Committee of 100 in Balboa Park, the Casa de Balboa building board, the San Diego History Center committee to reimagine the interior of the Junipero Serra Museum and the board of the Presidio Little League.
