He was predeceased by: his parents, Ed Shaffer and Dorothy Shaffer; and his brothers, Kenneth and Jerry. He is survived by: his children, Jonathan (Kara), Emmett (Monique) and Jessie Shaffer; his grandchildren, Presley, Jameson, Annalise, Nicholas, Elora, Catalina, Lorelei, Aryanna, Willow, Odin and Bjorn; and his sister Darlene Rouse. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

His contributions to the lives of many will withstand the test of time.
