She was predeceased by: her parents, Mary Junnila (Greiner) and Kurt Schaaf. She is survived by: her husband Charles Werner; her sister Dr. Jennifer Walker (Chad); her sons, Nick (Jackie) and Jack; her stepchildren, Chip (Ali) and Christine (Erik); and her grandchildren, Charlie, Teddy, Emily, Luke and Will. She is also survived by her family, her large circle of friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Diabetes Association.

“Chas, Nick and Jack, I am so sorry for your loss. I loved my "Hurricane" Sandy. I am the Brother in Law that lives in Hawaii and sort of a control freak. Fortunately, we were blessed with many visits by Sandy over the last five years. When Sandy arrived, their was no question who was in charge of the kitchen. Like a Hurricane imposing its will, Sandy did the same showering us with her LOVE and culinary skills taking over the kitchen. I am a much better person because of you and will miss you.”
