He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Mildred Kooi (Geerdes) and John Vander Kooi; his wife Cheryl; his children, Susan and Erin Vander Kooi (Roosma); his grandchildren, Taya, Case and Blake Vander Kooi; his brother Marlin; his siblings-in-law, Nellie Vander Kooi (Van Weerdhuizen), Karen (Van Buren) and Jim Sanger; and his nieces and nephews, Tricia, Sheri, Kevin and Evan.

Gerald Keith Vander Kooi, age 74, went to be with Jesus on April 13, 2023 after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease.
