She was predeceased by: her parents, Bert Swenson and Stella Swenson; and her husband Lynn Waller. She is survived by: her siblings, Harold "Bob", Helen "Jean" and Bert, Jr.; her daughter Marlys; her brother Bill Swenson (Ann) of Tracy, CA; her children, Kristi Golden (Michael), Johanna Dakopolos (Paul), Erica Waller (Dave Bernert) and Peter Waller (Denise); and her grandchildren, Benjamin, Alex Golden, Andrew, Matthew Dakopolos, Teddy, Connor, Henry Wingo, Kimberly, Zach and Lucas Waller.
In 2010 she was honored as the recipient of the National Dance Association Heritage Award for her significant contributions to dance in North America.
