He was predeceased by: his son Lenn D.; and his wife Joan Nerem. He is survived by: his sister Kay Rierson of Nevada, Iowa; his daughters, Janita Lee Gaylord of Puyallup and Dawn Ann Johnson of Gunnison, Colorado; and his grandchildren, Corey Carsrud of Greenville, Illinois, Shane Carsrud of Carterville, Illinois, Amanda Carsrud of Carbondale, Illinois, Kari Stachura of Buckley, Illinois and Jann Betts of Gunnison. He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren.
