He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Empkey and Mary Empkey; his wife Stella Evelyn Sorensen; and his son Douglas D. Empkey. He is survived by: his children, Karen Darby (Todd) and Gary Empkey (Melanie); his grandsons, Zachary Empkey (Katie McGrath) and Aaron Empkey; and his sister Marilyn Peterson.
