He was predeceased by: his parents, Luther Carson Cavender and Dorthy Fern Cavender; his siblings, Anne Hagger and Charles Cavender; and his nephew Jerry Moore.

He is survived by: his wife Ida "Lorene" Cavender; his children, Joe Lee Cavender, Linda Kaye Culbreth, Patricia Orsborn, Dixie Lea Jasinto and David Allen Moore; and his niece Margie Swallow. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
