She was predeceased by: her former husband Paul Smith; her parents, Emerie Simpson and Margaret Simpson; her brother Lee Simpson; and her son Skip Gest.

She is survived by: her husband Rex C. Gest; her children, Debra Smith of Marquette, Michigan, Dianne Lamarsh (John) of Portland, Oregon and Paul Smith (Cyndi Soliz) of Washougal; her grandchild Jared Mottes (KC); her great grandchildren, Dean, Will Mottes, Jason Mottes (Kelli) of Ypsilanti, Michigan and Jesse Mottes; her granddaughter Danae Lentz Vancouver (Sean Melby); and her stepdaughters, Linda Porter (Mike) and Jackie Easton (Chuck). She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Chaplaincy Hospice Center in Kennewick, Washington.
