He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Felix McKean and Judith Marie McKean; his wife Irmgard Kern; his children, Bruce McKean of Gig Harbor and Tanya McKean of Carlton; and also Irmgard. He was also cherished by five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
