He learned to garden, hunt and fish as he grew up. He especially enjoyed hunting with his brothers-in-law and family friends.

Chuck was a man of faith. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Milaca.

Chuck attended Milaca schools and graduated in 1967 from Milaca High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy on February 15, 1968 as a Gunner’s Mate and ordinance mechanic. Chuck went to Vietnam in December, 1969 and returned in December 1970 following his tour. He remained in the Navy until his honorable discharge February 14, 1972. During his 4 years of service he was awarded several medals, including a Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and a Vietnam Campaign Medal.

After his separation from the military, Chuck went on to work in the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and various other jobs throughout the years, including 1st Choice Housekeeping.

Chuck enjoyed spending time with his family. He enjoyed “puttering” around the house working on various projects, and working on cars. In the 70’s and 80’s he bowled on several bowling leagues in the Bremerton area.

He married Donna (Beigh) Bolz on May 24, 1968. Together, they had three children. They later divorced in May, 2000.

On August 12, 2001 he married Carrie (Tyler) Bolz. Together they had one daughter.
