He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Jay B. Matthews and Mildred A Roupee; his wife Carolyn Janet Bedell of Freeport; and his children, Dale C. Hart (Kent), Lynn P. Anderson (David), John David Matthews (Hilary), Paul B. Matthews (Dorothy) and Mark A. Matthews (Roxann). He was also cherished by 13 Grandchildren and 14 greatgrandchildren.
