He was predeceased by: his son Karl Nelson; his parents, Arthur Nelson and Doris Mauger; and his brothers, William Nelson, Keith Nelson and James Nelson.
He is survived by: his former wife Elaine Nelson (Cheesman); his wife Christine Nelson; his daughters, Lorelei Carlander (Peter), Christine Marsh (Tim), Karen Rasmussen (Richard), Kathryn Weiss (David), Mary Ritzema (Elliot) and Sarah Holewinski (Ryan); his brother Larry Nelson; and also Erickson Nelson. He is also survived by his 12 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, nephews and nieces, in-laws, and many relatives and friends.
Darl Dean Nelson died on July 21, 2018 at Whatcom Hospice House following a long battle with Alzheimer's.
