She is survived by: her children, Kenneth of Ferndale, WA. and Ann of Ferndale, WA.; and her grandchildren, Kayla of Ferndale, WA, Kathy of Ferndale, WA, Brandon Hanson of Ferndale, WA, Kenlie Brown and Tayden Brown. She is also survived by her husband, her daughter.

Joan's Alzheimer's experiences, first diagnosed in 2008, were publicized and documented in several articles published in this newspaper and elsewhere.
