With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Harriet DeWaard of Ferndale, Washington, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. As Harriet departs from our midst, her spirit ascends to join the cosmic dance of stars, a shimmering constellation of memories that will forever grace the night sky of the hearts of those who loved Harriet. Though Harriet may no longer walk beside us, her legacy lives on — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of time and space.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Henry Baak and Fannie Baak; and her stepmother Doris Baak. She is survived by: her husband Stan DeWaard; her children, Duane DeWaard (Amy) and Sherrill (Lucas VanWeerdhuizen); and her siblings, Cindy (Stan Heersink), Mary Baak and Dave Baak (Betty Zylstra). She is also survived by her family, friends.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, January 8th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Gillies Funeral Home & Cremation Services (202 Front St, Lynden, WA 98264). A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 10th 2025 at 2:30 PM at the Mountain View Christian Reformed Church (6678 Old Guide Rd, Lynden, WA 98264).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Christian Health Care Center in Lynden Washington.
