He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Charles E. Smith and Olive Smith (Thompson); his children, Gary Dale Smith and Shirley Rae Scheidegger; his wife Shirley; his sons, Lyle Raymond Smith, Jr. and Jeffery Lee Smith (JoAnne); his daughter-in-law Shirley Oswald; his sister Peggy Broemeling (Art); and his sister-in-law Phyllis Thomas (James). He was also cherished by 15 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren and 2 step great grandsons.
