“Our good (good!) friend and neighbor for over 50 years. Gary (always "Mr. Berndt" to me and "Ruxel" to my father) was so good to me and our family. I used to babysit his young children, walking the 1 block from our house to his. When my father died in 1977, Gary stepped in to help our family often. Such a bright and clever (and patient!) man who could always fix anything. We came to depend on him. Pat and Gary would greet me in the last decades when I came home to Enumclaw to visit. I loved Gary”
