He was predeceased by: his parents, Donavon A. Hiner and Pearl M. Flanagan Hiner. He is survived by: his brothers, Larry A. Hiner (Mary Lou) and Michael D. Hiner; his wife Jonna; his daughter Echo Messinger (Chad); and his grandchildren, Chaelynn Jensen (David), Olivia, Abbigayle, Hailey and A'Jay.
