He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Goehner and Alvina Goehner; and his in-laws, Leonard and Darlene Sexton. He is survived by: his grandson Christopher; his wife Carol Smith (Sexton); his children, Christina Butts (Donny) and Christopher Goehner of Tampa, FL; his stepchildren, Kellie Rankin (Robert) and Adam Smith (Vanessa); his grandchildren, Elijah, Alexis Robles, Mariah, Carly Rankin, Connor, Raylin Butts, Olivia, Penelope, Axel Smith, Kaylani and Selena; his siblings, Naomi Forsberg (Bill) and Keith Goehner (Lisa); and his brother-in-law Larry Sexton (Linda).
