He was loved and cherished by many people including: his father Hal Barnes; his adoptive father Douglass Van Orden; his daughter Ashley; his son-in-law Tre Alvarez; his grandchildren, Paisley, Elsie and Oslo; his daughter-in-law Natasha; his mother Jody Van Orden (Wathen); his brother Tom Van Orden; his children, Sara Van Orden, Daniel Van Orden (Natasha) of San Diego and Emily Van Orden (Tanner Campbell) of Pullman, WA; his sister Stacy Chai (Barrett Sr.) of Kihei, HI; his nephews, Andy, Cullen, Cavan, Cody, Barrett Jr. and Nainoa Chai; his brothers, Mike and Greg Barnes; his girlfriend Lisa; and his children, Paisley, Elsie and Oslo Alvarez.
Jim was a cat lover so in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Whitman County Humane Society.
