He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Johnson and Dorothy Johnson. He is survived by: his spouse Mardi Boswell; his children, Matt (Liz), Kristin Gauthier (JP), Tami Baxter (Frank) and Becca Taylor (Will); and his siblings, Arti Hughes, BJ Bowen and Gavin Johnson. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials or donations may be made to Grace United Community Church or Washington State University Athletic Fund.
