He was predeceased by: his parents, Tom Pennell and Jan Pennell. He is survived by: his wife Lyn Pennell; his daughter Karlyn Swinney (Doug); his grandsons, Blake and Brady Swinney; and his sisters, Marcia McCracken (Jim Davis) and Jeanne Tribbett (Jim). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

“I met Roger in the early 70's at Ferris High School. I was teaching there. We hit it off immediately with our love for hot cars, football, the outdoors, and hunting. I was very sorry when he returned to the farm. We pheasant hunted in recent years and he joined a group of automotive enthusiasts for lunch several times. I will miss our calls, and we always laughed at our many misguided politicians. He loved this country and family and many will miss him. Steve Backlund. Spokane”
