He was predeceased by: his father Leo Helling. He is survived by: his mother Velma Helling; his brothers, Dennis (Janette), Ken (Kari) and Don (Sonia); and his former wife Heather Morang. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the St. Joseph's Catholic Church or the Lewis County Animal Shelter.
