He was predeceased by: his parents, Pete Massett and Charlene Massett; and his brothers, David, Kenny and Joe.

He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth Dawn Jones-Massett; his daughters, Cheyney Jones and Brittany Torney; his grandchildren, Azalea, Canyon and Owen; and his siblings, Sandy, Barb, Jerri and Larry.

John taught hunters safety and participated in Duch's Unlimited and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation which was no surprise as he was such an Avid Hunter.
