She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Edwin Earl Smith and Myrtle Clymena Knox-Smith; and her children, Tony E Thomas Jr., Helen Thomas (Shaw), Janet Thomas, Deborah Thomas and Edwin Drake. She was also cherished by 13 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
She enjoyed working at the state hospital, and later working with Alzheimer patients.
