He was predeceased by: his parents, Jefferson Blount Sims and Annie Laurie Pugh-Castle; his brothers, Freeman and Gary Sims; and his former wife Ruth.
He is survived by: his wife Lesa Martin Sims; and his children, Timothy Sims (Bonita), Angela Sims and Jeffrey Sims (Monika). He is also survived by four stepchildren, three granddaughters, seventeen step grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
