Franklin Strohecker Jr. Obituary
Marty Strohecker, 59, passed on Tuesday, August 1, 2023 from heart failure. Marty was born in Seattle, but moved to Camano Island in his high school years, and graduated from Stanwood High School in 1981. He spent his adult life in California and Georgia, and returned to Burlington after early retirement to drive pilot trucks for several clients in the Skagit Valley area.
Marty is survived by his stepmother, Jane Strohecker, of Mt. Vernon; sister, Kathleen Strohecker; nephew, Michiaki Shimazaki; cousins Raymond and Karen Cosby of California; in addition to several close friends across the country. He is predeceased by his mother, Joyce Edwards; father, Franklin Martin Strohecker; and sister, Marcia Harmon. Marty pursued a career as an IT professional until his retirement in 2017.
Throughout his life, alongside his work Marty was an avid musician as a drummer and a voice many considered to be similar to Frank Sinatra. He was a member of the Screen Actors' Guild (SAG) and performed in a wide range of settings across the country. He especially loved his furry friends and was a keen cat lover.
He was fiercely loyal to those he called friends, and always willing to help when called. Above all, Marty highly valued honesty and sincerity in his relationships. Neither circumstances nor station in life mattered if you were among those he considered his friend.
When describing his life, Marty would say "I did it my way.". No services will be held at this time. Arrangements are under the care of the Hawthorne Funeral Home, Mount Vernon, WA.
