He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Elmer "Buck" Klinefelter and Francis Jacobson; his aunt Mildred; his wife Naoko; his children, Nancy (Gary), Steven (Debbie), Mark (Robin) and Richard (Nina); his grandchildren, Justin, Ian, Gary Jr., Darcey, Stevie, Taylor, Jordan, Kylie and Kimmie; and his great grandchild Declan. He was also cherished by child since his mother.
