He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Joseph Valvoda and Dorothy Valvoda (Stapf); his wife Linda; his sons, Gary and Steven Jr. Valvoda; his stepsons, Brian (Dani), Thomas (Susan) and David Jorgensen (Tamara); and his brothers, Vincent (Glenda), Timothy (July), Joseph Jr. (Teri) and Paul Valvoda. He was also cherished by 14 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
