Sean Taeschner wrote a sympathy message

“Dr. Kurt was my German professor at WWU in 1986-1988. His favorite saying to me was, "Taeschner, don't you ever fucking get married." I remember that he had had a grand piano in his living room over Chuckagut Bay in Bellingham. He was one of the last surviving members of his WW2 squadron. Short man...good man...always pointing with his fingers. I ended up becoming a teacher, like him. Sean T. Taeschner.”
