He was predeceased by: his parents, Willem Dotinga and Baukje Dotinga; and his siblings, Hinke Ypma, Janke Gerritsen, Betsy Vos, Baukje Bergsma, Thomas, John, Jelle, Ype, Brand and Melle.

He is survived by: his wife Anita DeGroot (Lu); his children, Bill (Carla), Kathy, Brenda Dotinga and Jenny Dykema; his grandchildren, Michael, Alicia Dotinga, Kasia Green (Kevin), Anneka, Liam and Elliot Bracken; his great grandchildren, Madison and Colby Green; his grandchildren, Kelcee, Carter Kohl, Emma, Iyla McVickers, Zabrina, Austen, Santana and Noah Swendt; his great grandchildren, Hunter, Violet Spencer, Oliver and Nova Lee Swendt; and his siblings, Wietse, Akke Slump, Tine Maring, Jeltsje Hofstra, Reinskje and Seits DeVries. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Family suggests memorials be made to the Ferndale Lions Club.
