He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Margaret Summers (Hanson) and Alvord C. Summers; his wife Arlene Summers; his brother Steve; his sister-in-law Ginny Summers; his daughter Colleen; his son-in-law Joe Blevins; his son Mike; his daughter-in-law Sarah Summers; his grandchildren, Karen Blevins Gustavson (Eric), Madeline Summers and William Summers; and his brother Mark Summers.

During this time he also taught online science education classes through the Jason Foundation and the Jason Academy.
